Ticked Off Official Selection at VideoMed Film Festival!
Winnipeg-based Merit Motion Pictures is proud to announce that its documentary “Ticked Off: The Mystery of Lyme Disease” has been chosen as an Official Selection in the Videomed Film Festival this year. The festival will be held November 17-21, 2014 in Badajoz, Spain.
VIDEOMED 2014 is a festival focused on medical sciences. After 29 years (1985 –2014), Videomed is a well-established International Forum where the ever increasing number of participants and countries that visit us every year can meet and interact. All the films participating in the contest will allow us to learn about new genetic diagnosis techniques, nanotechnology, personalized medicine, rare diseases, developments and new possibilities and advances coming from different countries and continents.
Produced by Merit Jensen Carr and Erna Buffie, and directed by Ryszard Hunka “Ticked Off: The Mystery of Lyme Disease” is a fascinating and eye-opening documentary that explores a disease that has devastating effects, is often misdiagnosed and mistreated, and continues to be mired in a medical controversy. Lyme disease, a mysterious tick-borne illness, is the fastest spreading vector-borne disease in the United States, and over the past decade, the tick that carries Lyme has been spreading across Canada with alarming speed.
“Ticked Off: The Mystery of Lyme Disease” is produced by Merit Motion Pictures in association with CBC’s The Nature of Things, with the participation of the Canada Media Fund, Rogers Documentary Fund, Manitoba Film & Music, the Government of Manitoba – Manitoba Film and Video Production Tax Credit and the Canadian Film and Video Production Tax Credit.
