US Premiere of Ticked Off in the American Conservation Film Festival!
The recent Merit Motion Pictures [MMP] title Ticked Off: The Mystery of Lyme Disease is having its US premiere at the American Conservation Film Festival [ACFF] this year. Lyme disease is the #1 vector-borne disease in the US with over 300,000 cases reported every year. Over the past decade, global warming has spread Lyme Disease across North America and around the world with alarming speed and devastating consequences. This film addresses an issue the ACFF is familiar with and necessary to share.
The American Conservation Film Festival [ACFF] is an annual event held in Shepherdstown, West Virginia, a vibrant arts community 70 miles west of the US capital. The ACFF features films from a diverse group of conservation filmmakers around the world. This year’s festival will take place October 30th – November 2nd, 2014 in Shepherdstown, WV where they will be screening 45 films over the course of 4 days. Ticked Off is screening at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 2nd at the Byrd Center for Legislative Studies Auditorium on Shepherd University campus.
Produced by Merit Jensen Carr & Erna Buffie, and directed by Ryszard Hunka, Ticked Off provides essential information on testing, misdiagnosis, treatment and prevention of Lyme disease.From the micro world of the tick and its disease-causing bacteria, to the macro world of human suffering and medical science, this powerful documentary follows the stories of sufferers of Lyme Disease and investigates the reasons behind the medical and political controversies that continue to surround this mysterious and elusive illness.
